Wrong.

“When Republican government isn’t able to improve the lives of their electoral base, I imagine those people will turn on them hard.” From the Awl: What the Fuck Are We Going to Do?

Wrong, Jim. Just wrong. The electoral base has proven time and again that they are willing to blame anyone besides the people they voted for. Keep in mind there are between one-and-a-half and two million federal employees, and they can’t fire and/or replace all of them within the next four years.

When the Republicans fail to deliver on all of their promises, their voter base will — well, honestly, they won’t be paying attention or care very much. But in the event that things take a turn for the horrific, and they are personally affected, then they will get right down to… blaming the hidden traitors in their midst who constantly frustrate their grand schemes via covert malfeasance. There will be witch-hunts. Oh, let’s be real, there will be an expansion of the already ongoing, perpetual witch-hunts that started on Day One. And in the end, the Republican voters will vote Republican even harder.
